RIDER Litigation Finance
RIDER Litigation Finance is a global platform launched in the first quarter of 2025 to facilitate the funding of meritorious litigation and arbitration claims through non-recourse capital. It was founded by Gabriel Pardo Lelo de Larrea, who serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). For the launch, Gabriel invited Juan Carlos Del Toro to join as a partner and serve as Chief Growth Officer, leading the company’s global commercial strategy. RIDER continuously builds a curated inventory of investor-ready cases across jurisdictions and presents each opportunity exclusively to institutional and professional investors whose mandates align with the risk-return profile of each case. Its proprietary software streamlines the full litigation finance process—from case sourcing and legal and financial filtering to negotiation, execution, and post-investment monitoring.
History
RIDER was founded on the belief that the litigation finance market remains significantly underserved, with substantial opportunities for growth through collaboration among existing market participants—both incumbents and new entrants. Its mission is to democratize access to capital for claimholders with meritorious cases who might otherwise be unable to pursue justice, while also democratizing access to litigation finance as an alternative asset class—previously limited to a narrow set of institutions—by offering vetted opportunities to investors seeking uncorrelated returns with tangible social impact.
By introducing a standardized, technology-enabled process, RIDER seeks to expand access to justice while enhancing transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder alignment across the legal finance ecosystem.
Gabriel Pardo Lelo de Larrea, a lawyer and investment banker with three decades of cross-border legal and financial experience, launched RIDER in 2025. He oversaw the recruitment and training of the internal team, defined the company’s strategic vision, developed institutional partnerships, integrated operational workflows, and set performance benchmarks. He invited Juan Carlos Del Toro, a seasoned litigation attorney, to join as partner and lead the firm’s commercial expansion. Supported by a team of Community Engagement Specialists, Juan Carlos is responsible for onboarding prestigious law firms into RIDER’s global network and facilitating deal negotiations by providing impartial guidance on industry practices and standard terms and conditions.
Business Model and Operations
RIDER is not a funder. Rather, it operates as a neutral, technology-driven facilitator of litigation finance transactions, enabling claimholders, law firms, and capital providers to interact transparently and efficiently. Its model emphasizes neutrality, process standardization, and informed decision-making:
Case Sourcing and Legal and Financial Filtering: RIDER sources legal disputes globally and advances only those supported by Legal Opinions from reputable law firms with expertise in the relevant jurisdiction and subject matter. Each case is also assessed for financial viability and alignment with investor criteria.
Claimholder-Defined Financial Proposals: Each case includes a proposed financial structure from the claimholder, tailored to the risk-return profile of the dispute and consistent with market norms.
Stakeholder Alignment from the Outset: Investors, law firms, and claimholders are informed early about key terms—such as legal budgets, expected IRRs, and waterfall distributions—to avoid late-stage misalignment and ensure clarity throughout the process.
Deal Structuring and Final Negotiation: Once a case passes preliminary filters, RIDER facilitates the final negotiation of investment terms, adapted to the specific profile of each opportunity and investor mandate.
Post-Investment Monitoring: RIDER’s proprietary platform delivers real-time updates and standardized reporting to stakeholders, including litigation milestones, financial performance, and any material developments affecting the investment.
Investor Access and Criteria
Importantly, RIDER is not a crowdfunding platform. It presents opportunities exclusively to a limited network of qualified institutional and professional investors, selected based on their investment mandates, risk appetite, and jurisdictional preferences. Investor engagement is conducted privately and on a relationship-driven basis, ensuring mandate fit and regulatory compliance.
Strategic Value for Law Firms
Law firms gain a strategic advantage by referring clients to RIDER—a neutral platform that sources non-recourse funding through a competitive process among multiple capital providers. This avoids potential conflicts of interest and enables clients to pursue strong claims without diverting capital from their core business operations. By positioning RIDER as a trusted financing solution, firms secure high-quality legal representation engagements that might otherwise be deferred or abandoned—reinforcing their role as trusted advisors and advocates for access to justice. Innovation and Global Reach
RIDER modernizes the litigation finance ecosystem by integrating legal, financial, and operational workflows into a centralized digital platform. By reducing deal friction, accelerating timelines, and enabling cross-border capital deployment, RIDER promotes greater efficiency and global access. Law firms and claimholders in one jurisdiction can connect with capital providers in another—expanding the reach and impact of litigation funding globally.
Stakeholder Value
RIDER creates measurable value across the litigation finance ecosystem:
Claimholders access capital without assuming the financial burden of litigation or losing control over legal strategy (subject to standard contractual terms).
Law Firms secure strong mandates from clients who might otherwise postpone or abandon claims due to funding constraints—while remaining independent from financing decisions.
Investors receive access to rigorously filtered opportunities aligned with their mandates, supported by legal due diligence, transparent structures, and ongoing reporting through RIDER’s platform.
