Inherited from Byzantine Greek θυμίζω (thumízō), active formation from an earlier passive form θυμίζομαι (thumízomai), from Koine Greek ἐνθυμίζομαι (enthumízomai), from Ancient Greek ἐνθυμοῦμαι (enthumoûmai); see θυμάμαι (thymámai, “I remember”) for more.[1]
