Etymology
From Old Georgian ბაგაჲ (bagay), from Proto-Georgian-Zan *baga-[1] or Proto-Kartvelian *bag-.[2] Cognate with Mingrelian ბოგა (boga, “plank foodbridge; floor of pen, cattleshed, stall”), Laz ბოგა (boga, “sheep, goat pen”), and possibly Svan ბაგ (bag, “stall”). Doublet of ბოგა (boga) and ბოგირი (bogiri, “footbridge”).
