- A taxonomic species within the family Canidae – golden jackal.
Usage notes
- Recent work suggests that African and Eurasian golden jackals are of different species, Canis aureus being the Eurasian golden jackal and the African golden jackals, being more lupine genetically, have been named African golden wolf (Canis anthus).
