Rhymes
[edit]Currently, Finnish rhymes go according to the rules of perfect rhymes in Finnish; two words rhyme, if:
- all sounds starting from the first vowel of the final stressed syllable are the same
- the consonant sound(s) (or absence thereof) of the final stressed syllable is/are different between the two words
This gives, depending on the word, either monosyllabic, disyllabic or trisyllabic rhymes.
The following sounds are ignored when considering rhyming patterns:
- gemination (/ˣ/), when at the end of the word
