Brothers is a 2024 American crime comedy film directed by Max Barbakow with a screenplay by Macon Blair from a story by Etan Cohen. The film stars Josh Brolin, Peter Dinklage, Taylour Paige, M. Emmet Walsh, Jennifer Landon, Brendan Fraser, and Glenn Close.
Produced by Legendary Pictures, the film was released in the United States by Amazon MGM Studios in select theaters on October 10, 2024, before debuting on Amazon Prime Video a week later on October 17.
Plot
The film centers on two criminal fraternal twin brothers: Mike, known as "Moke", and Jady. The film begins on Thanksgiving 1994, when the boys are 12. In voiceover it is revealed that the family business is crime: the boys are working to crack open a lock box they have stolen from their school. Their mother and her boyfriend arrive momentarily, but only to grab a plate of turkey and flee the police with stolen emeralds.
Thirty years later, Moke is trying to reform and get his life together now that he is married and has a child on the way, and Jady is fresh out of prison and looking for a new score. Facing legal troubles, gunfights, and family drama, they must reconcile their differences with each other and their mother who they haven't seen since she fled thirty years earlier. The two embark on a dangerous heist road trip, eventually securing the emeralds, and reconciling.

The film was said to be tonally in the vein of Twins (1988), which centered on two unlikely twins played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.[3] Macon Blair was later attached to direct the film and co-write the script with Cohen on April 30, 2020.[4] In June 2021, Glenn Close joined the main cast, with Max Barbakow directing.[5] Two months later, Brendan Fraser and Taylour Paige were added to the main cast.[6][7] Principal photography took place in August 2021 in Atlanta.[6]

In October 2023, Amazon MGM Studios acquired distribution rights to the film.[8] The film was released in select theaters in the United States on October 10, 2024, before debuting on Amazon Prime Video on October 17, 2024.[9][10]
