Childhood
[edit]Rob Kenney[8] (born May 30, 1964[9]) was sent to live with his older brother and sister in law for a while after his parents divorced when he was fourteen.[10][11] He continued to live with and stay in contact with his mother, but his father essentially "abandoned" the Kenney family.[12]
Dad, how do I?
[edit]After the hard times he had growing up without a father figure in his life, he planned to do something which would help kids who are growing up without a father. In April 2020, Kenney started the "Dad, how do I?" channel on YouTube, where he mainly posts videos about basic things which a kid should know, usually things they would have been taught by a father figure.[13][14][15]
A month after starting the channel, Twitter user @earthygissel posted a screenshot of his videos, with the description "his father left when he was 12, now he has a YT channel called “Dad, how do I?” to help kids who’re growing up without dads. teaching them basic tasks that you’d usually ask your dad for help on. this is the purest thing".[7] The post went viral and at point was the 12th most like tweet on twitter. As of 2024, the tweet has 1.9 million likes.
Fans of the Dad, how do I? channel often refer to Rob as "Dad". He has over 5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel as of 2024.[10] He lives in Bellevue, Washington with his wife Annelli.[12] They have two children: Kyle and Kristine.[12]
