Summary
Description1993 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R (7446033324).jpg |
The Ford display at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. Ford's Special Vehicle Team built a number of high-performance modified versions of Ford's volume models over the years. The 1993 Cobra is one of the best known. It closed out the production of this particular generation of the Mustang (1979-1993) with a bang. Its relatively affordable high performance was well noted by enthusiasts and collectors. This particular Cobra is a race-ready Cobra R, with additional performance upgrades. Its engine was good for 235 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. It was available only with red exterior and gray interior. Only 107 were built, and all were sold out before they were delivered to dealerships. At the test drive area, I could drive a brand-new 2012 Mustang GT with 5.0L engine, and/or ride shotgun with a professional driver in a Boss 302 Mustang. I did drive the GT, and appreciated both its power and its cornering on the test track. |
