(active 1380-1400 in Venice) Dante: Divina Commedia 1380-1400 Manuscript (Cod. It. IX. 276) Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana, Venice This codex is very large in format and extensively decorated with large initials at the beginning of each canto and with 170 miniatures, some of them full-page, distributed among the text, which is laid out in two columns. One of the illuminators has been identified as Jacopo da Verona (1355-1442). The miniature on folio 53v illustrates Canto I of Paradise. It shows Beatrice pointing out the sun to Dante.
