Portrait of David Garrick is a 1770 painting by the British artist Thomas Gainsborough. A half-length portrait of the celebrated English actor-manager David Garrick it was exhibited at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition.[1] [2] Diarist Horace Walpole described it as "very like".[3] Garrick, owner and star performer at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, was at the height of his fame when Gainsborough painted him. It was painted in Bath.[4]
Today it is part of the collection of the National Portrait Gallery in London.[5]
