Errors in entry on 12th Street Bridge
There are some factual errors here:
The bridge commonly referred to as the 12th street bridge (or 12th street viaduct) is NOT in Kansas City, Kansas. The history of the bridge is accurate, as is the last paragraph which refers to replacement of the bridge (happening now) by MoDOT (Missouri Department of Transportation) - naturally, MoDOT wouldn't have any interest in a bridge in Kansas City, Kansas.
The location of the bridge is also incorrect. I do not (as a resident of the area) know if there was ever a 12th street bridge over the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas. If there were, it would be located west of the 7th street bridge and east of the 18th street bridge. The bridge commonly referred to as the 12th street bridge (or 12th street viaduct) is in Kansas City, Missouri and therefore EAST of both of the bridges in Kansas City, Kansas. The 12th street bridge runs from downtown Kansas City, Missouri to a neighborhood between downtown and the state line known as the "west bottoms" - which is where the American Royal stockyards and Kemper Arena are located.
The only verification I can offer is that I am a resident of Kansas City, Missouri and found the errors in the article after looking it up today. The bridge is currently in the news because it was closed (as scheduled) this morning to be demolished and rebuilt. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.23.112.110 (talk) 13:07, 13 July 2013 (UTC)
- This article is about the KCK Bridge. The KCMO Bridge should be created at 12th Street Viaduct. I will be reverting all edits concerning the KCMO Bridge to eliminate the confusion and I will be creating a hat note for the other page.
