This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because... it is a notable article on a notable game that will be played soon. I don't understand the recently created and no relevant page history reasons, and the dulpicated content will change once the game is played. --AIRcorn(talk)14:40, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure where the 'no relevant page history' came from, as I don't remember adding that. As for the 'recently created' bit, the notice isn't saying this article will be deleted BECAUSE it's recently created, it's just describing it as a recently created article which should be deleted because...
Part of my reason for submitting the CSD was because the template on your page had a redlink for the previous year, so there didn't seem to be a precedent for separate articles for the Super Rugby final matches. Also, the information CURRENTLY provided didn't add anything that couldn't be put on the main Super Rugby page when the game was played. I admit, though, the other articles you provided seem really well filled out, so perhaps you could have waited until the match had actually been played to put up the article. I'll remove my CSD template though. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the article :) gaidheal1(talk♫contribs)15:00, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. The reason I started it in mainspace instead of a sandbox was that I wanted to get it on WP:ITN as close to the date of the event as I could and also hoped other editors might jump in with the details. FWIW I just found out that many of the other Super Rugby Final articles were unilaterally redirected to the season page by an editor a year ago (although the 2011 one has never been created to my knowledge). Is it only because I'm not British, or a citizen of one of the former British colonies, that I can't imagine why this article ended up on ITN? Sca (talk) 13:20, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Possibly, I would probably feel the same way about the World Handball Championship. Check out WP:ITNR for a list of sports (and other events) that get automatically selected. You might want to take it up there if you don't think this is worthy, but there are probably a few others that would have to be removed first. AIRcorn(talk)14:35, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
