Question re: Minbari temperature intolerance
What is the source for this:
- "Minbari die if exposed to temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius for too long."
I can't remember hearing or reading about this anywhere.
A question about references
Does WP policy provide that fictional subjects not need references? Thanks. WVhybrid 22:28, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- No. The guideline on citing sources does not specify any exceptions for fictional subjects. Pat Berry 22:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Remaining Minor Races Merge
I propose that the remaining minor races: Abbai, Gaim, Markab, Pak'ma'ra, and Vree should be merged into the article as many other minor races were merged into. The positive side to doing so would be to give a more concise, and encylopedic entry of the races (which would remove a lot of the cruft that already exists in many of the articles) and bring them to manageable lengths. Radagast83 22:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's fine with me, but I'd tag the articles with the {{mergeto}} template and wait a while before performing any merges, so that people are made aware of your proposal and have a chance to respond. - EurekaLott 15:17, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- That was my next step. Done it. Radagast83 03:14, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think that this acticle deserves, and should remain in, its own independant page. Nubula 10:22, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Dilgar
Where did this article's information about the Dilgar come from? There's only one episode of the series ("Deathwalker") that provides any details about them, and virtually none of this information comes from that episode. What is its source? Pat Berry 22:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- JMS wrote/planned substantial notes beyond what is directly contained in the series. It's likely this material is added in roundabout, indirect means from these original sources. --Eyrian 23:02, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Or perhaps somebody just made it up. Unless this material is substantiated by published quotations from JMS, he can't be cited as the source. Pat Berry 23:25, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's consistent with the canon material from the Babylon 5 Wars rulebook. --Eyrian 23:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Drazi Sky Serpent.JPG
Image:Drazi Sky Serpent.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

A problem with this page
Obviously there are a number of redirects to various races on this page, but about the only mention that this is fictional, in-Universe stuff is at the top. The whole thing should really be written in a less in-Universe style. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 21:26, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:B5 aliens.jpg
The image Image:B5 aliens.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Gaim appearance not based on Sandman
It is widely believed that the appearance of the Gaim was inspired by Neil Gaiman's Morpheus in his helmet. But when I went to find a source for this claim, I discovered that belief to be false. JMS said in 1995 that the Gaim's headgear is "mainly an extrapolation on an alien breather based on WW II style gas masks", not a reference to Dream's helmet. (In fact, Dreams's helmet is also based on old-fashioned gas masks, via Sandman (Wesley Dodds), so it's natural the two look similar.)
OTOH, I didn't find anything from JMS about whether the name is an allusion to Gaiman. I expect it is, so I've left that claim in the article with a {{fact}} tag. Does anyone have any firm evidence?

Starting some cleanup
It is probable that the name is a holdover from a time before the first Centauri emperor, when the Centaurum governed alone—much like the Senate in Republican Rome. This seems especially likely since the Centauri appear to be based partly on the Roman Empire.

Unless sourced this is obviously not encyclopedic and just speculation. Gonna keep trimming and sourcing as I can. tyvmPudge MclameO (talk) 07:28, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

A major cleanup of this article will commence one week from this posting. If you are a regular editor to this article, please step up your game and begin referencing the material to notable, verifiable, and reliable sources. No original research will be retained, nor will any synthesis. B5 has been off the air for some time, and there is a plethora of sources to be had for this info, so there is no excuse for non-citation. The clock is ticking. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 20:09, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Restoration of a problematic list
While this list of civilizations has some potential, it also contains a lot of unsourced information. Citations need to be added, at minimum to establish where individual facts are established, but also largely because we shouldn't be discussing civilizations with no real-world significance per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. As the list was only recently restored, I'm willing to give it some time before I'll begin cutting civilizations for which no real-world significance has been established, but there are reasons why this was merged in the first place. - NP! Good to have this thread here in case the consensus is to keep the list. DonIago (talk) 14:01, 17 October 2024 (UTC)
