De Carlo in the parking lot pleading straight to the camera?
The reappraisal section of the article quotes Eddie Muller, who writes: "De Carlo in the parking lot pleading straight to the camera might be noir's defining moment." There is no such scene in the film. The scene in the parking lot (after the scene in the railway station) contains no pleading by De Carlo, and she's never looking straight at the camera. How reliable is Mr. Muller? Edelseider (talk) 11:07, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- Maybe Muller is remembering the last scene, when she tries to justify abandoning Steve. Leghorn (talk) 01:27, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- He's remembering badly, because that scene takes place in a room with a window, and she doesn't look straight at the camera either. Film critics, eh? They sure write a load of bollocks.--Edelseider (talk) 05:48, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Plot Question
How did Anna end up with all the cash from the robbery? I remember that Steve Thompson specified, when they were planning the robbery, that Anna was to be the one who divided the take according to their agreement. But after Slim double-crossed Steve, and the robbery ended up with an anarchic shoot out, then it doesn't make any sense that they would let Anna have the cash from the robbery, and even less sense that they would let her escape with the cash to an unknown location. If this is a plot hole, then maybe the article should mention it. If there is an explanation, then it should be included in the plot summary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leghorn (talk • contribs) 01:21, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
- good question, and it can be seen as a plot hole: how managed the badly wounded Slim to escape - separated from the loot ? And how did they manage to bring the loot away, in the first place ? Not shown, remains mysterious. And very doubtful, that Steve is seen as a "hero", being wounded notwithstanding, when Gangsters could run away with all the money. "Botched" robbery ? At least, his hospital room should have been secured by a police officer (or did Ramirez keep his suspicion towards Steve to himself - ?). --129.187.244.19 (talk) 08:48, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
