Orphaned references in Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015
I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "final":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 14:49, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

This is my first time reviewing a Eurovision article for a while; I will bare San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in mind for this review, an article I also reviewed. --K. Peake 11:36, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
Infobox and lead
- Italicise Eurovision Song Project in the infobox and use the hashtag target as you've done for areas like auditions
- Remove the Eurochallenges hashtag because there are two different sub-sections
- "Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria." → "Eurovision Song Contest 2015, held in Vienna, Austria."
- Remove the Eurovision Song Project hashtag since this is not appropriate for the lead
- "and format of the" → "and format of" but this information should be written out in the body too, with the source being there instead
- Target MAD TV to MAD TV (Cypriot TV channel)
- Similarly to the other example, keep the collaborative info for the selection here but write out in the body too, moving the refs
- "due to low number" → "due to the low number" but see the above comment about writing out info elsewhere
- ""One Thing I Should Have Done". It was performed by" → ""One Thing I Should Have Done", performed by"
- "and is written by Karagiannis together with" → "and co-written by Karagiannis with"
- "The entry qualified for" → "The country qualified for"
Background
- "Prior to the 2015 Contest," → "Prior to the 2015 contest,"
- Wikilink Eurovision Song Contest
- "thirty-one times since" → "31 times since" per MOS:NUM
- [5] is not needed since [6] is the one that sources the first sentence
- Invoke the Cyprus history ref once every two sentences for the first four sentences since it is used for all of them
- "Its best placing was" → "The country's best placing was"
- "and 2004 with" → "and in 2004 with"
- "However, its worst finish" → "However, the country's worst finish"
- Target 2012 to Eurovision Song Contest 2012
- Wikilink Baku
- "in the final making" → "in the final, making"
- Remove target on 2004
- "to the final after" → "for the final after"
- "the broadcaster cited" → "with Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) citing" with the wikilink
- Target 2012–13 Cypriot financial crisis to 2012–2013 Cypriot financial crisis
- Remove target on Cypriot broadcaster
- Wikilink London Greek Radio
- Shouldn't the intended collaborative selection be mentioned here?
- The rumours are not mentioned by the source
- "their thirty-second entry." → "their 32nd entry."
- "first seen on 14 July 2014." → "first seen that same day."
Before Eurovision
Eurovision Song Project
- Italicise Eurovision Song Project on the img text
- Wikilink Eurovision Song Contest 2015, but the Eurovision Song Project title does not appear to be sourced unless my translator is faulty
- Shouldn't the Sweden comparison be mentioned somewhere here?
- The second sentence with the number of weeks and the starting/ending dates does not appear to be sourced
- The source says there was 10 shows not eight, plus the location is not backed up
- "despite previously being" → "despite it previously being"
- "on RIK 1, RIK Sat" → "on RIK 1 and RIK Sat"
- Mention the Eurovision website broadcast too per the source
Format
- It says there are 54 artists but the source lists 60 entries; were six of those entries for artists that had other one(s)?
- [16] should be solely at the end of the para, due to being the other areas up too
- "watch the performance of the artists;" → "of each artist watched their performance;"
- The cover version part is not sourced, even though the half is
- "of their Eurovision candidate songs." → "of their Eurovision candidate song."
- The two shows part is not backed up
- "eliminated ten acts." → "eliminated 10 acts." per MOS:NUM
- "the remaining ten artists" → "the remaining 10 artists"
- "of a past Eurovision Song Contest entry" → "of a Eurovision Song Contest entry" because the word "past" is used later on the sentence
- [16] should be at the end of the second para too per my earlier comment
- The public voting dates are unsourced
Judges
- Target Alex Panayi to Alexandros Panayi
- Remove target on 2013
- "was also joined by" → "was joined by"
Competing entries
- "Artists were required to" → "The former were required to"
- "or origin, and were" → "or origin and were"
- "they collaborate with" → "they collaborated with"
- Remove second and third targets on 2002
- The withdrawal sentence is not sourced, nor is any of the second para
- Target Junior Eurovision to Junior Eurovision Song Contest
- Remove target on 2004
- "co-composed the Cypriot 2010 Eurovision entry" → "co-composed the Cypriot Eurovision entry"
- Remove target on 2013
- See MOS:TABLECAPTION and add the appropriate ref(s) for the table
- Remove target on Panagiotis Koufogiannis
Shows
Auditions
- The ending date is not sourced, nor is the second sentence
- Add the appropriate refs for the table for Audition 1
- Remove targets on Panagiotis Koufogiannis
- Target "Volare" to Nel blu, dipinto di blu (song)
- 4 January 2014 → 4 January 2015
- 11 January 2014 → 11 January 2015
- Target "Cliché Love Song" to Cliche Love Song
Eurochallenge: Show 1 (16 January 2015)=
- "The twenty artists selected" → "The 20 artists selected" per MOS:NUM
- "selected ten to progress" → "selected 10 to progress"
- See MOS:TABLECAPTION
- Remove target on Panagiotis Koufogiannis
Eurochallenge: Show 2 (23 January 2015)
- "The ten artists selected" → "The 10 artists selected"
- You needn't reintroduce Björkman and Kontopoulos; only use surnames here
- Remove target on Sweden
- See MOS:TABLECAPTION and add the appropriate ref(s)
- Remove target on Panagiotis Koufogiannis
- You needn't target "Euphoria" to the song article twice
Final (1 February 2015)
- The winner is not backed up by the source
- See MOS:TABLECAPTION and add the appropriate ref(s)
- Remove target on Panagiotis Koufogiannis
At Eurovision
- You should start this section by mentioning the location and dates of semi-finals/final like San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015
- Target Eurovision rules to Rules of the Eurovision Song Contest
- "Big 5" → "Big Five" and target to Big Five (Eurovision) per MOS:LINK2SECT
- Target Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom to their Eurovision articles
- "the top ten countries" → "the top 10 countries" per MOS:NUM
- "from previous contests," → "from the previous 10 years." but the remainder of the sentence does not appear to be sourced
- Target second semi-final to Eurovision Song Contest 2015#Semi-final 2
- "All three shows were televised" → "All three shows were televised in Cyprus"
- The televised formats are unsourced, plus remove the targets to the broadcaster
- "who announced the Cypriot votes" → "who announced their votes"
Semi-final
- Move the first img to the left, as the following one is too close for them to both be on the right
- "on 20 and 21 May." → "on 20 and 21 May 2015."
- Technical rehearsals are not sourced, only dress
- "of the song the arena" → "of the song, the arena" but none of this para is sourced
- "and John had a" → "and Karayiannis had a"
- "were all shot in" → "were all in"
- "John was dressed" → "Karayiannis was dressed"
- "and was wearing" → "with him wearing"
- "Gradually the light increases" → "Gradually the light increased"
- "LED screens showed" → "LED screens showed a" with the target
- "into the song this background" → "into the song, the background"
- "in the top ten" → "in the top 10"
- Target grand final to Eurovision Song Contest 2015#Grand final
- "that the Cyprus sixth" → "that Cyprus placed sixth"
- Only use Karayiannis's surname on the img text
Final
- "was held for the ten" → "was held for the 10"
- "during the semi-final. Cyprus was" → "during the semi-final; Cyprus was"
- "John Karayiannis once again took part in dress rehearsals on 22 and 23 May" → "Karayiannis once again took part in dress rehearsals on 22 and 23 May 2015"
- "Cyprus performed a repeat of her semi-final performance" this does not make sense, as the country itself is not a person, so re-word to mention the performer instead; this and the following sentence are unsourced as well
- "placed twenty-second with" → "placed 22nd with"
Voting
- The five music industry professionals part does not appear to be backed up, unless I missed something?
- "placed twenty-third with" → "placed 23rd with" but none of this para has the appropriate source(s) invoked
- "Cyprus scored 8 points finishing in tenth place," → "the country scored 8 points, finishing in 10th place,"
- "with the public televote receiving" → "with the public televote, receiving"
- "and awarded by Cyprus in" → "and awarded by the country in"
Points awarded to Cyprus
- Good
Points awarded by Cyprus
- Good
Split voting results
- [52] does not source the members
- Capitalisation of roles is useless, plus remove the dash after chairperson

- Remove this useless section
References
- Archives look good!
- Copyvio score looks really good at 19.4%!!
- Wikilink European Broadcasting Union on ref 1 and remove eurovision.tv
- Change EBU to European Broadcasting Union on ref 7 and fix the WP:OVERLINK
- WP:OVERLINK of European Broadcasting Union on refs 6
- ESCtoday → Esctoday on ref 8
- Cite Esctoday as publisher instead for ref 15
- Wikilink Wiwibloggs on ref 16
- Fix the archives for refs 28, 39, 40, 42 and 44 by adding ones for the actual URLs rather than the incorrect stories URL, plus remove eurovision.tv from all of them and cite European Broadcasting Union as the sole publisher with no wikilinks for these ones
- eurovision.tv → European Broadcasting Union on refs 29, 30, 52, 53 and 54, always citing as publisher
- Remove eurovision.tv from refs 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48, plus fix any overlinks of the publisher
- Remove from ref 38 also and change EBU to European Broadcasting Union
- For consistency, should (EBU) really be included for refs 49, 50 and 51?
Final comments and verdict
- On hold until all of the issues are fixed; hopefully you can make sure everything is sourced! --K. Peake 21:56, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Kyle Peake: Hi, sorry for the late response. I've implemented all the suggested changes, thank you for taking the time to review! — TheThomanski | t | c | 17:42, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- TheThomanski It is fine re the late response, but you still need to fix the MOS:QWQ issues with refs (this refers to when speech marks are used inside the titles) and change the last1/first1 parameters to just being last/first due to the current parameters being recognized as invalid, plus are the split voting results roles separated properly using commas from my last edit or did I accidentally add any splits mid-role titles without realizing? --K. Peake 18:43, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Kyle Peake: Done. — TheThomanski | t | c | 16:26, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- @TheThomanski: ✓ Pass now, good job and I was thinking about whether you'd be responding soon or not earlier today actually. It may have taken a while but I can see that you are not highly active on Wiki so this is acceptable, especially in the context of how it's been under two weeks which can be acceptable for GA reviews – I notice your dedication to Eurovision articles though; keep that up! --K.
