I Want To Attempt To Get The leatherface Article Up To Good Article Status, Anybody With Me? :) (Id Rather Be Hated For Who I Am, Than Loved For Who I Am Not 20:28, 13 March 2007 (UTC))
- Yeah, that'd be great.--CyberGhostface 20:41, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
I Was Thinking Of A Timeline Of Events In Leatherface's Life....Unless Thats Already Here Somewhere..................... (Id Rather Be Hated For Who I Am, Than Loved For Who I Am Not 20:51, 13 March 2007 (UTC))
- I don't know if we'd be able to make a specific timeline of events in his life given that there's 3-4 different continuities present in the films. And although the prequel attempted to delve out some information, I don't think there's enough enfo to make a cohesive timeline.--CyberGhostface 21:18, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Is There An Unmasked Pic Of Leatherface Anywhere? I Mean When He Was Unmasked In The 2003 Remake...Cheers (Id Rather Be Hated For Who I Am, Than Loved For Who I Am Not 23:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC))
- Please see Jabba the Hutt, Padme Amidala, and Palpatine for examples of Featured Articles about fictional characters. These are the only FAs about film characters to reach that status. Note the "appearances in films" section. Biographies of fictional people are unencyclopedic, which ties in with timelines as well. BIGNOLE (Question?) (What I do) 00:18, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't have the DVD, but I do have a function on my computer that allows me to save screenshots from DVDs. If you want me to I can rent the TCM remake and get a picture of Leatherface unmasked.--CyberGhostface 01:03, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Yes Thank You That Would Be Great. I Think An Actual Picture Of Leatherface's Disfigurement Would Tie In Nicley With The Mask Section I Added (Id Rather Be Hated For Who I Am, Than Loved For Who I Am Not 01:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC))
- {{tl}Cite web}} would be great for that pile of web references. -- Phoenix2 (talk, review) 17:19, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Me and Bignole are currently working on that, although anyone who wants to help can gladly join in.--Paleface Jack (talk) 16:28, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

Mr. McSawyer
Sorry, minor quibble... I edited his name to read "Jedidiah Sawyer" in regards to how he is identified in Texas Chainsaw 3D, and for some reason someone edited it to "Jedidah" as it was previously. I'd just like to know why this is. 2601:5C2:4100:F4D9:691C:988B:6F20:453C (talk) 18:26, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
Reason being the last name sawyer is a given. we are using first names unless completely different.--Paleface Jack (talk) 22:19, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Expansion
This article is way too short and is missing a great deal of information on the character. There should be information on the character's creation, appearances (this section should include sub-sections like film, literature, comics in terms of appearances), characterization of the character, and appearances/references in popular culture. Considering just how underdeveloped this article is compared to articles on other horror characters it is quite sad and much work needs to be done to this article.--Paleface Jack (talk) 23:02, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
- Well if there's anything you feel that needs to be added go ahead but at the end of the day Leatherface is, despite his importance to the horror genre, esoteric compared to Freddy, Jason and Michael and there's not a whole lot of supplementary content that isn't covered here or elsewhere on the wiki. The comics section here alone is pretty extensive.--CyberGhostface (talk) 19:28, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
Much of the information mentioned on other pages could be included into this article, for example there is a ton of information on the creation of the character mentioned in the article for the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, also this article could be reorganized better with the sections mentioned above added.--Paleface Jack (talk) 21:16, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Collaborative Expansion
For such an influential and legendary horror icon this article is poorly written, developed, and sourced. It's quite sad to see such an important subject no being given its proper attention so, since I have mostly finished with my expansion on the articles for The Hideous Sun Demon and I Drink Your Blood, I am making this article my next collaborative expansion project. I have already started a userspace draft for use in this expansion project which I will include the link here. I will need all the help I can get to expand this article so that it meets its full potential and quite possibly become a GA (Good Article) or FA (Featured Article). Anyone that is willing to collaborate with me and help expand it just let me know on my talk page. Together we all can make this article great!--Paleface Jack (talk) 17:42, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

List of all Leatherface's actors and stuntmen
Barefoot heights
6' 4" 280 lbs Gunnar Hansen (1974) 6' 1⅝" Tom Morga (1986) 6' 2" Bob Elmore (1986) 6' 2" Bill Johnson (1986) 6' 2½" 231 lbs Kane Hodder (1990) 6' 4" 330 lbs R.A. Mihailoff (1990) 6' 3" Robert Jacks (1995) 6' 4" 345 lbs Brett Wagner (2003) 6' 4" 276 lbs Andrew Bryniarski (2003 / 2006) 6' 2" Sam McKinzie (2013) 6' 5½" 285 lbs Dan Yeager (2013) 6' 6" 250 lbs Casey Hendershot (2013) 4' 2½" Boris Kabakchiev (2017) 5' 11" 165 lbs Sam Strike (2017) 6' 4" 275 lbs Mark Burnham (2022) 6' 4½" 220 lbs Vasil Yordanov (2022) Alexiska98 (talk) 16:45, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- First, Tom Morga has not credit as Leatherface and the only source I've seen was that he did one scene on the bridge (probably because the stunt was too dangeous). Not even sure who Bob Elmore is. Second, what does the height list have to do with anything? BIGNOLE (Contact me) 17:06, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- Bob Elmore did most of the scenes in the movie the texas chainsaw massacre 2. I use the height for comparison Alexiska98 (talk) 00:52, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- Is there a source for that? Because Bill Johnson is the only credit for TCM 2. As for the heights, again what is the point? Is that just for the talk page? BIGNOLE (Contact me) 13:56, 4 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Bignole As to your not being sure who Bob Elmore is... while Johnson is credited, Elmore apparently did most of the work on the film due to Johnson not wanting to, or not being able to, work with the chainsaw. Tobe Hooper is said to have used Elmore, who was already hired as a stuntman on the film, to portray Leatherface for most of the shoot as a result, save for the bridge scene shot which was Tom Morga. This was due to Elmore breaking his wrist earlier during that scene's shoot and being taken to the hospital. Morga took over the character to film the remaining bridge scene while Elmore was away. Elmore contends that Johnson is actually only seen in three closeup shots and that he is Leatherface throughout the rest of the movie. Elmore returned to portray Leatherface during the 1988 People Magazine horror icon photo shoot which saw Robert Englund, Kane Hodder and George Wilbur as their famous horror characters as well.[1] There are numerous interview videos with Elmore explaining the TCM2 actor switch online but mentions of Elmore at least sharing the role can be seen here and here for example. NJZombie (talk) 04:26, 5 March 2022 (UTC)
- This is good for the body, but I would have an issue with him being in the infobox when HE is the only one claiming that he's in the film more than Johnson (Morga shouldn't be anywhere near the infobox, or really the page for simply shooting one scene). I see the argument that Elmore/Johnson is similar to Castle/Moran, but in the latter everyone from Carpenter to Castle acknowledge that the reason Moran isn't credited is because of the guild. Please Read BEFORE Making Additions to the article
I think I am gonna come out and say this so any additions to the article in its current state might be considered either at a later time or somewhere else. Anyways, over 3 years ago I started a revision draft on Leatherface for the sole purpose of doing a complete overhaul of the article in a more contained setting until I felt it was ready to be transferred into this main article. I recently started working on it again after a couple years of taking a break from it. Although I am not close to being done with it I want anyone who is considering making additions to the main article or wanting suggestions to please ask me first before going about doing it cause I am monitoring this article and it would save me time just adding it to my workspace if its not already on there. That is all for now. Happy editing! Paleface Jack (talk) 19:16, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
Project Tagging
I didn't realize that "[d]iscussions need to be made before any additions or changes" as that is not how I understand project tagging to work for talk pages. It seems to me that wikiproject disability has some interest in this page, given that there's numerous mentions of the mental disability. @Paleface Jack:, can you walk me through your reasoning? Because this gives off major WP:OWNERSHIP vibes. Mason (talk) 22:37, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

I've looked through this article with the intention of reviewing it, but it appears to require a quickfail per WP:QF. I'll elaborate below with more details, but there are immediate issues that should be resolved prior to a GA nomination. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 16:39, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
- Well-written
- When subsections go on for longer than a few paragraphs, it begins to severely affect readability. The "portrayers", "design", and "personality" sections exceed the ideal length of a subsection several times over. This is a symptom of the excessive detail present in the article, which is covered under criterion 3.
- "developing a horror villain" does not belong as a heading. I see similar headings at Jason Voorhees were used to justify this, but it appears they're only in that article because they're being guarded against consensus.
- This article uses the word "would" 162 times. In most if not all of these cases, it's used to avoid past tense.
Would be
should be was,Would portray
should be portrayed, etc
- Verifiable with no original research
I have not closely looked at the sources, but there are multiple sources listed as generally unreliable at WP:RS/P: The New York Post, We Got This Covered, SportsSkeeda (used twice), and Discogs
- Broad in its coverage
This criterion is the reason that a quickfail is required. Criterion 3b reads: it stays focused on the topic without going into unnecessary detail (see summary style).
At 14,498 words, this article is pushing against the recommended limit of the broadest, most widely covered topics. As described by WP:LENGTH, articles of this length begin to cause not only readability issues, but also make maintenance unrealistic and can cause technical issues for readers on older devices. Realistically, this article probably needs to be reduced in size by at least one third.
Condensing the paragraphs in these longer sections could help. I'd take some of them and condense them down to 2–3 sentences that just have the paragraph's main idea without including trivia, minor details, or blow by blow accounts of events. I'll commend the article for generally sticking to an out of universe perspective, so there's not really outright WP:FANCRUFT to be removed, but where it does appear it should be cut. I also notice that some of these longer sections are as long as they are because they cover each film in detail. An article about a fictional character should cover the general use of the character rather than specifics of every appearance. If you don't want to delete this material, you could probably move it to the respective film articles and then leave a general 1–2 paragraph summary of the overall info on this article.
