List through Gamma Mu.
Rublamb List of casts from Alpha to Gamma Mu...
Naraht (talk) 00:04, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Up to Delta Alpha
Up to Delta Zeta
And
Apparently a complete list even farther in the 1949 Baird's.Naraht (talk) 00:11, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have Baird's 17th, so am planning on using it to get founding dates through 1962. I have never seen a group that lists end dates and inactive chapters rather than charter dates and active chapters. But at least it had a list so that I did not have to manually enter more than 1,100 chapters. Rublamb (talk) 02:33, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
through Phi Xi (1971)

- Thanks. This one is going to take many lists from different times. Their three naming systems (normal, numeric, and State/Greek Letter) at the same time and constant reuse of names is driving me nuts. Also, they didn't issue Greek letter chapter names in order. Rublamb (talk) 21:19, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think, the numeric were Delta Psi Omega only. But I'm not sure I've seen a numerical list for all of Delta Psi Omega.Naraht (talk) 21:31, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- I found one numbered from their website with a name in Baird's. If the numbered chapters are Delta Psi Omega we ought to be able to find either original charter dates or use the year of merger. But a merger might also explain the repetative instances of the same school with a different chapter names, meaing they gave the merged chapter a new name rather than the name of an inactive chapter. Rublamb (talk) 21:50, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- Not quite sure what you mean by merger. I would think the oddities might be a two year school with a chapter becoming four year. I believe that Delta Psi Omega was a creation of Alpha Psi Omega rather than a group taken under their wing. And I'm curious on the list of DPO chapters you found, what is the URL?Naraht (talk) 13:34, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
- I meant if there was a merger of their chatper lists. This source I used is [1]. Help is needed and appreciated! Rublamb (talk) 15:28, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Numbers = Delta Psi Omega chapters?
RublambFrom what I remember, Delta Psi Omega chapters have numbers, and that certainly looks like it as the numbers seem to be county and community college type names. Should these be split off into a differently named article? I picked one in the list on the APsiO website (https://www.alphapsiomega.org/chapter/alvin-community-college/) and it says the chapter is DPO, not APO. Naraht (talk) 13:56, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, these a Delta Psi Omega chapters as far as I can tell. I believe that the group merged operationally as it declined—note that the merged list is from the APsiO website's list of chapters. I have not split Delta Psi Omega off yet because I keep finding sources with numbers, indicating more Delta Psi Omega chapters. But I will do so now so that you move over any others you find.
- I am not sure if any chapters of either group are still active. Every time I find a college with a webpage for a chapter, the national's list had a recent closure date. This may explain why the chapter list only includes inactive chapters with closure dates. BTW, do you think Delta Psi Omega should hav its own article? Rublamb (talk) 15:33, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Can you help identify the unnamed chapters that are at junior colleges, to be moved to the Delta Psi Omega table? Rublamb (talk) 18:52, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- It was separate at the very beginning, but merged quickly.
Throughout the country, Alpha Psi Omega has sponsored the formation of theatre honor societies in high schools and junior colleges, with the aim of encouraging dramatic production at every step in a person’s academic career. In 1929, after significant interest on the junior college level, Delta Psi Omega was formed. In 1936, at the Alpha Psi Omega Grand Rehearsal, Delta Psi Omega was officially recognized as the junior college division of Alpha Psi Omega. Today, there are over 350 Delta Psi Omega casts.
- I think a separate table within this article. And I'll see what I can figure out.Naraht (talk) 19:47, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Since you figured out how to see the GLO name (by clicking on the items in the list), I just need to view those chapters without a chapter name or number. Its a pain but doable. Rublamb (talk) 00:20, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
A horrifying thought
Rublamb I was considering the following. Dates on https://www.alphapsiomega.org/chapter/ may *not* be the date that the chapter went inactive. It may simply be the last time the chapter talked (sent in info) to Nationals. For example: https://www.alphapsiomega.org/chapter has April 2024 as the date for Alabama State. otoh, the info from a March 2023 archive on https://web.archive.org/web/20230329005817/https://www.alphapsiomega.org/chapter/ has February 2022 as the date for Alabama State.
To me, this makes far more sense than every chapter being inactive, but all it really means to us is that we don't know if a chapter is active or inactive, just that if it is Inactive, the date of inactivity is after that. (and to have a chapter go inactive in 2022, come back and go inactive again in 2024, makes no sense, Otoh, sending info to National on a regular basis causing that is just fine)
So two horrifying situations, 1) the chapters even those in their playbill go under very quickly after, 2) we (and probably *they*) actually have no idea when all of these chapters actually disappeared and aren't even identifying those. Naraht (talk) 20:15, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- You could be right about the dates and the list in general. But I do think most chapters are inactive because they are not on their college's website and, with many, the institutional name listed has not been used in decades or the college is closed. Also, they have not published a Playbill since 2019. Some chapters are on the list twice; I don't know if that was a mistake, if they reactived and went dormant again, or if both groups had a chapter there. If the dates are just for the last communication, how far back would we consider active? Do you want to contact the national and see if they respond? Rublamb (talk) 22:34, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- RublambWhat chapters are on the list twice? I'm writing their president, we'll see what I get back. I wouldn't want to guess, I'd rather simply leave the active/inactive column blank.Naraht (talk) 02:16, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- Now that I know how to tell what society the chapter was affiliated with, I can find the answer. I already found one that had a both societies, transitioning after the junior college started offering four-year degrees. Rublamb (talk) 13:56, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
