Walter Samuel
Walter Samuel was born with the family name Luján (which is the most Catholic name you can think of in Argentina, see Our Lady of Luján). At age 17, Walter adopted the name of his stepfather.
I do acknowledge the assertion that Samuel is (or may be) Jewish is all over Wikipedia, incl. the Hebrew one. It is false, as everybody in Argentina knows. At most, his stepfather could have some Jewish connection. And everybody in Firmat knows Samuel's mom is a devout Catholic.
Whoever keeps up putting him back --- your one reference is clearly wrong. Have some better ones:
[4] where it reads "Su mamá no se separa de la Virgencita" -- Spanish for "his mom never lets go of the (image of the) Virgin (Mary)" i.e. she is a devout Catholic
Should be enough, imho. Peace.
