The article says:
"Note that the premier is always referred to in official Quebec government publications as the prime minister."
What is meant by this? Is the claim that the Quebec Premier is called a 'prime minister' even in English language publications from the Quebec government?
I find that difficult to believe, and in a quick perusal of the National Assembly website, could find no instance of 'prime minister' referring to the Premier.
If the claim is, as I suspect, merely that the Quebec premier is called 'premier ministre' in French publications, then this should be made clearer. --Saforrest 01:48, Jun 30, 2004 (UTC)
Actually, the practice dates back to the 1840s, when the premier of Quebec and the premier of Ontario were jointly the Prime Ministers of the Province of Canada (1841-1867). Until 1975, the premier of Ontario was officially styled the Prime Minister of Ontario. Jeremicus rex (talk) 13:06, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

- Click this link to see one of the many instances where Priminister of Quebec is written on www.gouv.qc.ca:
- There are 441 results. The official language of Quebec is French and the Québec State (l'État Québécois) and Administration uses vocabulary that is often closer to the French and American terms rather than British terms. For this reason, you will see "Prime Minister" as the translation of Premier Ministre, but I do not believe there is an actual policy on this. That is what we would need to find out to know what the official term should be. For now, I believe that it is not clear and it appears it depends on the government in power. Probably, the term "Prime Minister of Quebec" started appearing during the 1960s state modernization. -- Mathieugp 03:52, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Prime Minister of Quebec... the function
Would anyone be ready to begin a page for Prime Minister of Quebec, the function? Most Chiefs of State functions have distinct pages for the post AND the list of occupants of that seat (see: Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, President of France, etc.). It would be very useful and appreciated. Also, it could be interesting to make references to the previous similar functions of Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada and Governor of New France. --Liberlogos 15:04, 10 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Daniel Johnson Sr.jpg
The image Image:Daniel Johnson Sr.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
- That this article is linked to from the image description page.
