Folk song
I believe this is better known as a folk song rather than a nursery rhyme. For the most well known lyrics, see https://www.oxfordlieder.co.uk/song/4962. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.125.236.202 (talk) 09:31, 12 May 2023 (UTC)

When I was a Bachelor → When I was a bachelor – or When I Was a Bachelor. Either lowercase "Bachelor" per MOS:INCIPIT or uppercase the verb per MOS:CT. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:04, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Support "When I Was a Bachelor": I used two search engines to generate a passel of uses of the phrase (some titles and some parts of the rhyme) and counted various capitalizations. See below.
- DuckDuckGo
- when i was a bachelor, any capitalization, 72
- When I was a bachelor, 1
- When I was a Bachelor, Wikipedia and 2
- When I Was a Bachelor, 33
- when i was a bachelor, any capitalization, 109
- When I was a bachelor, 35, only 6 of which were used as titles
- When I was a Bachelor, Wikipedia and 9
- When I Was a Bachelor, 36
- Also some give the title as "The Foggy, Foggy Dew" or "The Foggy Dew". This is not scientific and if it were close I wouldn't take it too seriously, but title case has the far greater proportion, so I take it that "When I Was a Bachelor" is the title of the rhyme.
