Krakatoa?
I don't want to open up discussion about the name of this competition yet again, but surely there is a better source for the 'New York World' argument than a book about volcanoes, written by somebody we can assume to have no specific baseball knowledge, over a century after the naming took place? Even the reference set up as the counter-example concedes that it's mentioned on several baseball blogs. Needs a source who knows home plates, not tectonic plates!
If there isn't a reputable source for the New York World argument, it damages its credibility to the point it might be worth considering rephrasing the current text, which currently implies the New York World hypothesis is the more likely explanation. Dybeck (talk) 16:51, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
