Expertise
I am a student researcher in the fields of Criminology and Criminal Justice. My research focus is organized crime - specifically, the relationships between 1. organized crime and local community, and 2. local and transnational organized crime. Specifically, I have experience researching organized crime in the U.S, Italy, and Indonesia.
Other academic experiences: HIV in correctional populations, Corruption, Terrorism (esp. terrorism-organized crime nexus), Media depictions of crime, Wildlife crime, Qualitative methodology
Other research interests include: Criminological theory, Feminist theory, Media criminology, Mental illness and the CJ System, Philosophical criminology, Sociological theory, Conflict studies, and Green criminology.
Hobby Stuff
I am not all work and no play! I am also very into cinema, literature, writing, television, travel, cooking, and science fiction. At my university, I am VP of the debate team. Also, I am a self-confessed (and oft-accused) coffee addict. My love of media has a profound influence on my research about its inaccuracies/stereotypes/potential uses.
Huge fan of: A Song of Ice and Fire, Orange is the New Black, Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Breaking Bad, J.D Robb's "In Death" series, and Harry Potter.
