Deletion
Hello Mr R,
Just to let you know that I've just been informed that several (extremely useful and informative) articles on sport (such as FA Premier League 2006-07 goalscorers) that I both update and use for research, have just been needlessly deleted. I am told by the IP editor of this article that a group of objectionable admins are grouping together to purge articles on sport and sports statistics. This is extremely irritating - as a sports journalist such articles are invaluable and easily the best resource of their kind on the web. If Wikipedia is intending to make itself less useful, informative and detailed for the sake of it I can't see the point of me continuing to use it or contribute to it. Somebody has taken it to 'deletion review' (which I don't understand) and I wish them luck. If you can help in any way please let me know. I contribute a lot to WP and have donated in the past but now I'm not getting my reward I feel it would be pointless for me to do so again.
I would like to argue for a separate WikiSport section which would solve the argument once and for all.
Thanks for your time and continued effort, Mjefm 15:47, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
There is a new project about your WikiSport section. It's virgin, so you can start all the project. [1] Please, contact with the Administrator of this web to change any setting of the wiki. [2]

Hi, seeing you are interested in football this is an invitation to contribute to this discussion to clarify certain issues about football player notability. I think clearer guidelines are needed to avoid repeated inappropriate nominations for deletion and time consuming discussions. Cheers! StephP 20:15, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned fair use image (Image:Churchill Brothers logo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Churchill Brothers logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:46, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

WP:CVU status
The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! Disputed fair use rationale for Image:1993-1.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:1993-1.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 04:01, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Wikimedia Stories Project
Hello,
My name is Victor Grigas, and I'm a storyteller at the Wikimedia foundation. We're telling stories of Wikipedia users, editors, donors, programmers and staff to paint a picture of who uses Wikipedia - for the 2011 fundraiser.
I am in the process of planning a trip to India to gather stories from Indian Wikipedians in face-to-face interviews (possibly on video).
My primary goal is to conduct 15-20 interviews, and hopefully enough of my interviews will make compelling stories that will effectively solicit donations from the public. These stories may also be used for other communication purposes by the foundation.
I found your userpage on a list of prolific Wikipedians and thought I’d reach out to you. Prolific editing is always a good story to tell!
If you are interested in participating, please contact me via my email:
vgrigas@wikimedia.org
Thank you for your time!

Football kit editing
Hey Mr. R!!
Looks like you are a great wikipedia editor. I was wondering if you could give this unexperience user some help...I am trying to add some historical kits to the Peru national football team page. I want to creat some new patterns but I dont know how to. I can creat a kit with the existing patterns but I want to creat some specific kits that cannot be replicated with any of the existing patterns. I want to know what software to use and how to upload the information.I hope to hear from you soon. --Critviz (talk) 01:12, 28 September 2012 (UTC)
Invite to the African Destubathon
Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:12, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Roddick11 toronto2004.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Roddick11 toronto2004.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. XXN, 15:41, 7 March 2017 (UTC)
