Hi Balaji
I am surprised to see you participate in Wiki's translation for Hackathon. I have some questions to start with. What is hackathon ? What is this Wikimania all about? Will I also be able to help out translating articles ? I would love to attend this conference and get started on this. Please let me know how to go about this :)

- Hi Sharanya,
- Happy to see your interest in wikipedia and translations.
- Hackathon is an event in which computer programmers and others in the field of software development, like graphic designers, interface designers and project managers, translators, collaborate intensively on wiki software related projects.
- Wikimania is a annual international conference for wiki projects operated by Wikimedia foundation. Let it be any project like wikipedia, wiktionary, commons, etc. Hackathon takes place few days before wikimania. This year Wikimania 2012 will held in Washington
- If you are interested in translating wiki software please visit http://www.translatewiki.org and start translating in your preferred language.
- I would strongly suggest you to start an account in wikipedia (same user id can be used in other wikimedia projects like wiktionary, etc). Use the hyperlink to start an account or click at the top right corner of this page. If you already have an account then it is well and good and you can contact in user page after log in so it will be easy to communicate.
- If you are new to wikipedia please visit Introduction to Wikipedia.
- To participate in Hackathon in Wikimania just include your name as interested in Hackathon page and add your name as interested. Then register your name in Registration to participate in Wikimania 2012.
- If you want to translate articles in Wikipedia please visit Wikipedia:Translate us
- Definitely you will be able to particiate and contribute in translations. Infact any one can participate in wikipedia movement.
- Hope your questions are answered. Still you can get back for more clarifications :) - Balaji (Let's talk)
