The article George Herbert Scott has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Gormenghast userbox
Hi Grover. Saw this over at the new oserboxes page but as its been up there some time, I thought it best to ask you here. Anyway, I'm a bit puzzled by it and, as a fellow Gormenghast fan, must ask: what are these tenets sacred, the creeds (presumably to do with the ancestral family Groan) and how/why is one supposed to ramify them? Is it basically saying that, like Sepulchrave, one strives to uphold the traditions (and castle) of the Groans? Plutonium27 12:40, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- It's a quote from Titus Groan—part of the Ritual from Titus's christening (the chapter is called "Titus Is Christened" and the quote is on page 86 in my edition). The original paragraph is:
'Your name is TITUS' said Sourdust very simply, 'TITUS the seventy-seventh Earl of Groan and Lord of Gormenghast I do adjure you hold each cold stone sacred that clings to these, your grey ancestral walls. I do adjure you hold the dark soil sacred that nourishes your high leaf-burdened trees. I do adjure you hold the tenets sacred that ramify the creeds of Gormenghast. I dedicate you to your father's castle. Titus, be true.
- It's essentially Titus, or rather Sourdust on his behalf, pledging allegiance to Gormenghast and, in this particular sentence, to its rituals. Grover Snodd (talk) 14:55, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
George Herbert Scott
Just a hello really, and a word of appreciation regarding this article. I've been doing a lot of editing of the R101 article (to which I am sure you could usefully contribute, h) , and had started a biog of Scott, but you have thoroughly beaten me to the punch. Btw I don't think your list of favorite authors remotely odd, probably because it is remarklably similar to mine!TheLongTone (talk) 10:25, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks very much. Actually, I originally began the Scott article as a side project to the one on Irwin, but it took on a life of its own (not least because Scott was more notable than Irwin and I felt obliged to put in at least as much effort). I'm almost finished my work on it for the moment but will try and list some of the areas where it could be developed further; anyone is welcome to contribute to it. I'll certainly consider working on the R101 article too. Grover Snodd (talk) 11:15, 8 March 2012 (UTC)
Invitation: WikiProject Autism
Greetings! You are hereby invited to WikiProject Autism, a collaborative effort to improve the coverage of autism, Asperger syndrome, and Autistic culture on Wikipedia. As the project emphasizes contribution from autistic editors, it is especially interested in you, who have chosen to list yourself as a Wikipedian with Asperger syndrome.
