Hello,
Welcome to Wikipedia! I'm your campus ambassador Gabe and I enjoyed talking with you yesterday about Wikipedia. I've put a few notes and helpful links, particularly about how to find images here: Education Program talk:Boston College/History of the American West (2013 Q1). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about editing Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy this assignment and I look forward to seeing your contributions. Help us improve the Wikipedia Education Program
Hi Jvarm1! As a student editor on Wikipedia, you have a lot of valuable experience about what it's like to edit as a part of a classroom assignment. In order to help other students like you enjoy editing while contributing positively to Wikipedia, it's extremely helpful to hear from real student editors about their challenges, successes, and support needs. Please take a few minutes to answer these questions by clicking below. (Note that the responses are posted to a public wiki page.) Thanks!

Formatting your sections
Hi, Jvarm1!
Just looking through some student edits and wanted to provide some (hopefully helpful) feedback. I noticed the 'formatting' tag another editor added to the top of your new article on Richard "Deadwood Dick" Clarke. Most likely, the main reason this editor added that tag is simply because of the way you formatted your section headers. Instead of bolding those headings (by surrounding the text with three apostrophes), try surrounding the text by == on each side. Start with two equals signs, and then you can increase that number for subsections, if necessary. Also, don't forget to try and summarize the contents of the article in the 'lead paragraph' which you'll notice on most Wikipedia articles simply gives the reader an idea of the rest of the article. I hope that helps; please let me know if you need any further help! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 00:18, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Richard "Deadwood Dick" Clarke as a Deadwood tourist attraction.jpg)
Thanks for uploading File:Richard "Deadwood Dick" Clarke as a Deadwood tourist attraction.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:11, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
