Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Denial of the Holodomor are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics. Thank you for greatly improving the History section of the Hadrut article! AntonSamuel (talk) 10:30, 6 January 2021 (UTC) |
Hey! I saw that you expanded and greatly improved the history section of the Hadrut article, great job - here's a barnstar for you! If you have time, there are many other articles related to the Principality of Khachen and the Melikdoms of Karabakh such as Hasanriz (Haterk), Zar, Azerbaijan (Tsar) and Vank, Nagorno-Karabakh that could use expansion and improvement in general and to their history sections specifically. I've recently also expanded the Nagorno-Karabakh detailed map and the List of cities and towns in Artsakh to get a better overview of all localities in Nagorno-Karabakh/Artsakh, so if you're looking for a specific town or village, that list may be useful! Dzori Miro moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Dzori Miro, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. eviolite (talk) 04:36, 10 September 2022 (UTC)Sargis as Assyrian name
Hey Revolution Saga, I noticed your recent edit on the Sargis page, adding that the name is used among the Assyrian community as well as the Armenian one. I have removed it for now, as there was no source provided for it. Merely a few examples of Assyrian individuals bearing the name does not quite meet the Wikipedia standard of burden of proof. This was discussed previously by me and ZaniGiovanni on his talk page. Please add a WP:RS, similar to the existing one that demonstrates its use in the Armenian community.--AncapOgre (talk) 19:47, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

- Does "that Pap of Armenia survived an assassination attempt by Roman legions during a battle, but was later murdered by the Romans during a feast?(Lenski 179–181)" sound good? Did you mind that I added it as an alternative?
- Also while looking over the Lenski book, I noticed that Traianus hadn't personally done the assassination, it was a barbarian guard. I fixed that in the article and you may want to correct that in your ALT1 DYK. --Dallavid (talk) 19:30, 19 December 2022 (UTC)

Working on First Republic of Armenia article
Happy new year, Revolution Saga! I was wondering if you'd be interested in working together to improve the First Republic of Armenia article to become a Good Article. I've started rewriting the article in my sandbox and structured it according to the layout of similar GA's – it involves the consolidation of multiple topics hence why I thought It'd be great to have another editor involved, especially one who has contributed so extensively to Armenian history such as yourself. Best, – Olympian loquere 23:54, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Olympian, happy New Year to you as well! I would be happy to work on the article with you; however, my time will be quite limited in the coming months due to my studies, so I won't be able to dedicate much time to working on the article. Good luck to you on it. I will make additions, changes or suggestions where I can. Best, Revolution Saga (talk) 09:30, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

DYK for Pap of Armenia
On 18 January 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Pap of Armenia, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Pap of Armenia survived an assassination attempt by Roman legions during a battle, but was later murdered by the Romans during a feast? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Pap of Armenia. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Pap of Armenia), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello
Hi, I'm coming here after you undo my change on page Turkish–Armenian War. As you stated, "it's reporting the view of a particular historian". Even if the person in question is a historian, it doesn't seem right to include a personal opinion that cannot be proven (also added to the beginning part of the article, is personal opinion that important?). Especially if the person in question is a member of one of the parties. It seems more correct to delete the information or move it to a subheading. If we agree on the issue, I'm open to your suggestions. Kyzagan (talk) 17:05, 12 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi User:Kyzagan, I don't agree with your objection. While Kevorkian's claim is a counterfactual and not 100% provable, he does support it with evidence, some of which is mentioned or cited in that paragraph in the lead. In any case, I would not be completely opposed to moving it to the body in the future, but only when the article is much more detailed. Revolution Saga (talk) 22:50, 13 May 2023 (UTC)
- First of all thanks for your answer. I understand what you mean. If possible, I would also like to open a detailed sub-heading about the alleged massacres in the article, but with the current state of the article, this seems difficult. Most of the sources, except for the military parts, is written by Armenian historians. Therefore, there is a problem with the objectivity of the article (This situation is also mentioned at the beginning of the page.) I can't promise for now, but maybe I can improve the article with different sources in the future. If you have time in this process, I would appreciate it if you could deal with the objectivity issue of the article. Have a nice day. Kyzagan (talk) 00:55, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
- A historian's ethnic background is not sufficient basis to place his or her objectivity under doubt. You will need more evidence to prove unreliability. Richard Hovannisian and Raymond Kevorkian, for example, are world-renowned historians whose works are used in global scholarship. Revolution Saga (talk) 21:08, 14 May 2023 (UTC)

Sources
Hi Revolution Saga. Hope you're doing well. As you may have at least partly noticed from my work in Karabakh Khanate, I'm currently working to expand a lot of Caucasus-related articles, including stuff to do with Eastern Armenia. I do possess a fair amount of great sources regarding it if I do say so myself. However, in case I might be missing out on some or something, I was wondering if you could recommend any specific ones about Eastern Armenia, particularly sources that deal with its Armenian population, its historical churches, and the melikdoms, that would be greatly appreciated. A question
Congratulations, colleague! Thank you for the excellent article about Mesrop Taghiadian.
Colleague, can I ask you for help with an article about the Julfans Petik and Sanos? I have made status articles about them in the Ukrainian and Russian wikis, but in the English section the criteria are higher. I am sure that there are some points that need to be revised in the article, and there are no users in the Ukrainian and Russian sections that I could turn to for clarifications of these points. Colleague, please let me know if you can find some time to help me, and if not, could you suggest a user to whom I could contact?
Because I have a desire to write more articles about significant Armenian merchants, and this article is only my first experience :)
With respect, colleague. Smpad (talk) 11:51, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello there. This is the user who requested the edit to the "Republic of Artsakh" page to mention the ongoing blockade there. I see that you were the user who made the requested edit to the page. I'd just like to say thank you very much for what you did. Together, we both a big and positive difference by raising awareness of the blockade and now, the page does not ignore the Azerbaijani campaign of creating a humanitarian crisis in Artsakh (and possible genocide too). Once again, your assistance is needed. This time to the "Nagorno-Karabakh" page. This request actually doesn't come from me directly but instead it comes from User:JM2023 who posted on 30 August in Talk:Nagorno-Karabakh to request a mention of the same blockade to that page. The user even copy and pasted your entire blockade section from the "Republic of Artsakh" page and placed it in the talk page. If you want me to cooperate on specific articles, I might be able to. Best, Revolution Saga (talk) 03:42, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

Armenian merchantry
Colleague, I want to notify you that I have finally created an article Armenian merchantry (and want to delete needless Mercantilism in Armenia article). Yes, it is still far from ideal, but I will improve it. I would like to ask you to keep an eye on it :)
Also, сolleague, could you delicately incorporate a link to it in the article about Hovsep Arghutian?

Can you restore Armenian dynasty on the top first sentence? Since 2006 ever since this article was created, it’s always said Armenian dynasty. Add David Marshall Lang and M. Chahin sources. Explain also that the Orontid dynasty was Armenian because linguists classified Armenian as an Iranian language, the Iranian mentioned doesn’t mean Persians necessarily. 2600:6C50:1F0:9730:BDE5:A7E0:14EE:277A (talk) 04:42, 9 February 2024 (UTC)

Hello.
In the Stepanakert article, can you add these paragraphs at the bottom of the "Control by Azerbaijan" section?
« In the following months, Azerbaijani authorities dismantled monuments symbolizing Artsakh, including the Giant Cross and the Eagle Monument,[1][2] and statues of prominent Armenians in the city, among them, Stepan Shahumyan,[3] after whom Stepanakert is named, Charles Aznavour[4] and Alexander Myasnikyan.[5]
In early March 2024, Azerbaijani authorities demolished the National Assembly of Artsakh Building and the Artsakh Freedom Fighters Union Building.[6][7] »

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Hovhannes Tlkurantsi. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. signed, Rosguill talk 15:20, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

Need your help
The user that goes by the name of “HistoryofIran” (who is actually an Azeri Turk based on his edits), is removing almost everything that was Armenian to “Iranian”, specially when it has to do with the Orontid dynasty. There are like 5 sources that state Orontids were an Armenian state or dynasty, that he put under the Iranian sources. Where it says “Some historians say Orontid was Iranian origin”, 5 sources stating Armenian, one of them says it 3 times by David Marshall Lang. He is also cherry picking Cyril Toumanoff, who also states that Orontids were an Armenian monarchy. 2600:6C50:1F0:9730:C193:CD0D:1527:C26F (talk) 17:54, 16 March 2024 (UTC)

Liberation Struggle
Hello, there may not be a clear English name, but the official name in Armenian historiography is 'liberation struggle'. Other neutral sources use this name too, such as Aldo Ferrari who studies Russian history. The Syunik article should be changed to a similar name. Using "rebellion" is the opposite of a neutral POV title, it is an explicitly biased title. KhndzorUtogh (talk) 23:30, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi KhndzorUtogh, I don't agree with you on that, 'liberation struggle' is much more biased than 'rebellion'. 'Rebellion', like 'uprising', implies no moral judgment, whereas 'liberation struggle' has quite a positive implication. See, for example, this work by Aivazian, and he is an explicit nationalist. While you and I might think 'liberation struggle' is a perfectly proper term for the event, it's not, in my view, what an encyclopedia article should call it. It's the same reasoning as that behind avoiding a term like Wikipedia:Freedom fighter. Anyway, I'm happy to open it to broader discussion to hear third opinions. Revolution Saga (talk) 00:00, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
- Aivazian also refers to it as a liberation struggle or movement in that same paper, and has written papers that use those titles instead ("From the History of the 1720s Liberation Movement in Siunik"). Ultimately the common name is prioritized, and the majority of works on this subject refer to liberation struggle or movement. This is why the "positive" named Greek War of Independence isn't titled "Greek Revolt" instead, for example. Another problem with calling the article "rebellion" is that it completely ignores the intellectual and political aspects of the wider movement and instead can only refer to the military aspect. Question re 2022 census
Hello, Revolution Saga! I hope you’re well. I noticed you recently added population statistics from the 2022 Armenian census for Tsaghkadzor. I searched the census publications on the referenced webpage and couldn’t find Tsaghkadzor’s population nor the population of rural settlements, it seems to only show urban-settlements' population. Could you please help me find it? I'd like to add the 2022 census population to all settlements' articles. Thank you! – Olympian loquere 07:49, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Olympian, I'm doing well, hope you are too. You can find the population data for Tsaghkadzor in the file named "table 1.1․1.xlsx" after you download the .rar file under "CHAPTER1. POPULATION DISTRIBUTION" on the linked page. Tsaghkadzor town is item number 142 in the excel sheet. You have to look elsewhere for the populations of specific villages, and I'm not sure that these are official 2022 census stats. The data for individual villages apparently requires you to open each individual province's file here. It's poorly designed. You have to click on the province names to the bottom left of the map, not the links on the map itself. Let me know if you find something better. Best, Revolution Saga (talk) 08:17, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for that detailed guide! I found Tsaghkadzor but seem to have forgotten that it has an urban settlement status. Unlike the 2001 and 2011 censuses, it appears that the rural settlements'/villages' populations aren't indicated in the 2022 census. I emailed ArmStat to request it but they could only provide the permanent, non-census, population which is published annually. The one you linked shows the permanent population 'according to January 1, 2023' (the very same that ArmStat sent me), which I presume is based on the government's database of citizens/addresses rather than the 2022 census, and sadly not as useful nor indicative as a de facto population count. In any case, thank you for your help and insights, I will definitely keep an eye out in-case they post it and let you know as well! Best, – Olympian loquere 09:06, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- No problem. Thanks for emailing them. That's too bad that they wouldn't provide the village data. It seems to be a consequence of the recent administrative reforms where villages were merged into even larger "խոշորացված համայնքներ". As usual, not done very conscientiously by this government. Let me know if you manage to get it. Best, Revolution Saga (talk) 19:06, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

Thanks so much for spotting and correcting the spelling of Hripsime Djanpoladian's name. I started the page using Google Translate and wasn't aware it was incorrect. (Help Needed) Continued Vandalism of Armenian History by a Specific User
Hello,
I wanted to discuss a user known as Kansas Bear, who is a well-known vandalizer. He frequently employs very discreet methods to avoid getting banned. I have reviewed his edit history and other actions and can confirm that he is a pro-Turkish editor aiming to desecrate Armenian history. He repeatedly makes edits that damage articles and even claims on his main page, citing an Azerbaijani source, that Armenia did not exist before 1918.
Recently, I noticed that he keeps editing back the claim that Tigranes’s mother was Alan, for which there is no evidence. The book he cites does not provide any evidence to support his claim, he also makes other edits, such as removing the Armenian name for Tigranes. While these actions may not violate the terms of service of Wikipedia, we all know what his intentions are. You should also be familiar with this because you were involved in it.
I have come here to ask for your help. Is there a possible way we could report this user for his desecration of history and stop his spree of falsifying information?
Many Thanks!

Hi! About a day ago, you readded Category:Targeted killing by Israel to Yahya Sinwar, which I had removed prior to your edit. As outlined in my edit summary, my belief is that this does not count as a targeted killing, because the soldiers were not specifically on a mission to kill Sinwar, rather, his killing was pure chance. There wasn't anything "targeted" about this killing. However, you restored the category in your edit, so I'm curious to here your point of view on this.
