Note regarding canvassing and the Guianas
[edit]Canvassing
[edit]Please note our canvassing policy, which requires that messages made to persuade people to participate in particular discussions must be:
- Limited in scale;
- Neutral in message;
- Nonpartisan in audience; and
- Sent on Wikipedia itself, rather than an external website.
This is because Wikipedia makes decisions by consensus, and inappropriate canvassing can corrupt that process. Other forms of canvassing are considered to be inappropriate and may be considered a form of disruptive editing, which can lead to a block or ban from Wikipedia. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 20:14, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
Making changes to maps of Suriname and Guyana en masse
[edit]Additionally, please note that when edits are disputed, that engaging in making changes en masse to a large number of articles to enforce those edits is generally considered to be inappropriate. I am a Commons admin, and I note that an editor has raised concerns about this sort of behavior on Commons. While it is perfectly acceptable to produce educational maps and place them on Commons (so long as they are neither duplicates nor overwrite existing maps without consensus), it is generally not wise to make a large number of changes to international borders in maps on Wikipedia merely to enforce what one thinks is true; Wikipedia's core policies call on us to describe disputes, but not engage in them, and actions should not be taken on Wikipedia merely to attempt to influence our readers or greater society towards one's own beliefs.
As such, please refrain from making en masse changes to maps involving the borders of Suriname and Guyana (such as you did at geography of Suriname, Suriname, Outline of Suriname, Borders of Suriname, etc.) going forward, and please engage in civil talk page discussion or other dispute resolution processes if you believe that the articles on Wikipedia fail to present maps that adhere to our core content policies.

- Hello, if i understand you correctly, editing the maps on wikipedia is done in consensus? could you tell me how this issue can be raised on a higher level? i see that there are problems with the way i delivered the message, but i hope you are reading the arguments as well. how should i bring this to a sort of vote? btw it is not one persons opinion about the borders of surname, the fact that there is almost no one from Suriname who addressed this issue before on wikipedia. i would appreciate it if you can tell me where this issue must be posted correctly to get consensus? do i post about it here:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Dispute_resolution_noticeboard ? SurinameCentral (talk) 21:23, 17 May 2023 (UTC)
- If you think that the borders of Suriname should include all of its territorial claims in its principal image on a page, you want to open a discussion on that talk article's corresponding talk page—for the article on Suriname, this would be Talk:Suriname. WP:DRN is probably not going to work if there are more than two or three editors involved; the best way to move forward, if the community does not reach a consensus one way or the other after informal discussion is held, is probably going to be by opening a request for comment with a brief and neutral question describing the proposed change. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 01:41, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- thanks i will post it there. SurinameCentral (talk) 22:11, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Moreover, it's generally bad practice to overwrite existing files on Commons; see c:COM:OVERWRITE. When proposing non-trivial changes, a separate map generally should be uploaded with a new title so that both files can remain hosted on Commons. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 01:43, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks. After figuring out how to do a rfc i posted one on the suriname talk page. I don't know if that was the correct place for it? More editors are getting angry there because of it. I tried putting a neutral title but people find it not neutral. Can you pleas check it and give me feedback what exactly needs to be adjusted? Because that is not clear to me. June 2023
[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Guyana, you may be blocked from editing. Please stop uploading your preferred maps to articles without a clear consensus on the talk pages of those articles to do so. BilCat (talk) 22:21, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- What do you consider Disruptive editing? Biased maps were changed for neutral maps. are you even aware of why the maps were updated? if not, please read up on the territorial disputes of Guyana, all those maps shown there are not neutral maps. SurinameCentral (talk) 22:57, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- Your actions just confirm what i already knew here, People like to pretend this is a "Neutral" platform while its just full of Biases. SurinameCentral (talk) 22:59, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
- There is a right way and a wrong way to handle such issues on Wikipedia. You're doing it the wrong way. BilCat (talk) 02:31, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

. Doug Weller talk 21:34, 6 January 2024 (UTC)- Walked right into the trap by @SOUTHCOM , nobody was interested in going over his disruptive edits, nobody was interested from the start in showing a neutral representation of disputed borders. keep showing biased and misleading maps in your content. now i understand the Co-Founder of Wikipedia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0P4Cf0UCwU SurinameCentral (talk) 21:49, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

Possible Copyright Violation
[edit]Please note that some of your modified/uploaded images to Wikimedia Commons are from other editors and sources, including the CIA maps. This is under review for copyright infringement WP:CRANDO + WP:COPYOTHERS. Please review your images and delete content that may be in violation of copyright laws. I'm aware that you have taken numerous images from other editors and sources and modified them without permission. Thank you for your cooperation. MacDonald2024 (talk) 16:57, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- Interesting development. Fresh account created on the 4th of Jan but knows exactly where to say what in order to block neutrality and keep existing (not neutral structures) in place. Special:Contributions/MacDonald2024 SurinameCentral (talk) 17:10, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- No response to the suggestion of copyright violations? All of those maps were copyright free or licences to meet our requirements? Doug Weller talk 17:16, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- I made the maps myself. when other content was used, they were licensed under:
- You are free:
- to share – to copy, distribute and transmit the work
- to remix – to adapt the work
- Under the following conditions:
- attribution – You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- share alike – If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same or compatible license as the original.

- @Doug Weller https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:SurinameCentral/neutralmapsofsuriname&action=history why is this acount allowed to blank my user pages? with just a false accusation like this and i cannot revert it?
- Then when i talk about being censored here everybody is offended. SurinameCentral (talk) 17:25, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
