This page in a nutshell: Articles or stories about imagined television shows or competitions should be deleted from Wikipedia. |
A few editors of Wikipedia write pages about imaginary or fantasy television shows. The television shows are often presented as being in the reality television genre, but are fictional. These pages are often a form of fan fiction following an existing television series. Sometimes the pages are about music competitions or fashion competitions. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and is not a web host for fan fiction. Such pages are not permitted in draft space, in user space, or in any other namespace. If they are written in a way so that they report that the shows or competitions took place, they are hoaxes and are not permitted. In the unlikely case that they state that they are fictional, they are still unrelated to the mission of Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, and are using Wikipedia as a web host, which is not permitted.
Fictional reports of television shows, like other fictional material, should not be put into any namespace in Wikipedia. If found, they may be tagged for speedy deletion as G3 if they are obvious hoaxes. More often, they are unobvious hoaxes, and should be nominated for deletion in the appropriate forum, usually Miscellany for Deletion.
