The club grew so big so quickly that in the 1920s, in order to get game time, a group of players broke away to form Herne Bay United[5].

The club used to play at the historic Herne Bay Pier Pavilion until 2011 when it closed[6]. The club now uses the Bay Sports Arena[7] as its home.
