Murad Atayevich Annamamedov (Russian: Мурад Атаевич Аннамамедов) is a Russian conductor who served as the artistic director and chief conductor of the Yaroslavl Academic Symphony Orchestra from 1994 to 2024. He holds the titles of Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1991) and People's Artist of Russia (2003). Annamamedov is also a laureate of the L. Sobinov and I. Arkhipova awards.
Murad Atayevich Annamamedov was born on January 18, 1955, in Moscow. His mother, Gozel Annamamedova, was a renowned musician and educator, recognized as the first Turkmen pianist and honored as a distinguished artist of Turkmenistan. It is said that she served as the model for the Turkmen figure in the famous "Friendship of Peoples" fountain at VDNKh in Moscow.
In 1971, Annamamedov enrolled at the Turkmen State Music College named after D. Ovezov, specializing in choral conducting. Upon graduating in 1975, he continued his studies at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the tutelage of Professor Gennady Rozhdestvensky. During his conservatory years, he made his conducting debut with Veli Mukhatov's symphonic poem "My Motherland" alongside the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan.
In 1977, Annamamedov took the helm of the symphony orchestra at the children's music school in Pushkino, Moscow Oblast. By 1980, he became a conductor, and in 1981, the artistic director and chief conductor of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Turkmen SSR. In May 1985, he assumed leadership of the Saratov Symphony Orchestra. From 1994 to 2024, he led the Yaroslavl Academic Symphony Orchestra.
Between 2005 and 2008, Annamamedov chaired the State Examination Commission for conductors at the Moscow Conservatory. From 2013 to 2015, he held a similar position at the Gnessin Academy. In 2005, he established the Gennady Rozhdestvensky Award for outstanding graduating conductors of the Moscow Conservatory and introduced the Gennady Rozhdestvensky Gold Medal in 2011.
Throughout his career, Annamamedov organized approximately thirty festivals at regional, national, and international levels. He led cultural delegations for Russian cultural days in countries such as Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland, Iran, Vietnam, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. He has conducted 16 operatic productions and collaborated with 50 orchestras, performing in 73 cities across Russia and internationally.
Under Annamamedov's leadership, the Yaroslavl Symphony Orchestra became the first in Russia to attain the status of "Governor's Orchestra" in 1996 and was designated as "Academic" in 1999.
From 2011 to 2015, he chaired the Congress of Turkmens of Russia and individuals of Turkmen descent.
