The Sustainable Development Council (SDC) is an international non-profit organisation that describes itself as an organisation focused on advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through youth empowerment, human rights advocacy, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Founded in 2019.
Sustainable Development Council holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) from the year 2021[1], enabling it to contribute to high-level discussions on global development issues and advocate for inclusive, sustainable policies.[2][3][4][5]
Key Initiatives and Programs
International Youth Forum on SDGs and Human Rights (IYF): SDC’s flagship Forum, the IYF convenes youth leaders, diplomats, and advocates worldwide to address global issues, particularly around sustainable development and human rights. The IYF has become a platform for youth-led solutions and international collaboration.[6][7][8] As a global platform dedicated to empowering young leaders, fostering dialogue, and promoting sustainable development through the active involvement of youth. The forum brings together youth advocates, policymakers, and experts from around the world to discuss pressing global issues, share innovative solutions, and drive actionable change. The IYF focuses on key areas such as Human Rights, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), gender equality, climate action, and social justice. It aims to provide young people with the knowledge, resources, and networks needed to make a tangible impact in their communities and globally.

In the United States, an organization also named Sustainable Development Council was created in 1993 under the Clinton administration.[9]
