Submission declined on 20 November 2024 by CanonNi (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of films). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Window Seat is a 2023 feature film directed by Hooroo Jackson. It is the first fully AI-generated feature film.[2][3] Released on July 21, 2023, the film follows a tech CEO facing professional scandal while confronting his high school bully during a turbulent flight. Featuring 100% AI-generated video and performances, assembled from over 4,000 machine-generated videos, it is considered a milestone in AI filmmaking for being the first feature-length film to use artificial intelligence as its primary creative medium.[3]
Plot
At 10,000 feet, tech CEO Thom Claw's life begins to unravel during a flight to Australia. While traveling with his girlfriend Millie to visit her pregnant sister, damaging chat logs from his company are leaked to the public. The situation worsens when Thom encounters Raiden, his high school bully, who is also on the flight. As national backlash mounts and cancellation looms, Thom must navigate both professional turmoil and confront long-buried personal traumas, all while confined to the airplane.
Production
The film was generated entirely using artificial intelligence tools. Jackson used Runway to generate the film's raw machine video, stitching the film together from over 4,000 randomly generated shots, and ElevenLabs for the machine performances assembling the acting one line at a time, with scripting orchestrated through ChatGPT.[4] The film faced several technical challenges characteristic of early AI-generated content, including inconsistent character models and varying scene compositions. For example, the bully consists of three different character models across the film.[3]
Release and reception
Window Seat was released on July 21, 2023, receiving positive reviews on RottenTomatoes.[5] Entertainment Journalist Martin Carr praised the film for its potential in demonstrating AI's capabilities in cinema, noting that while not perfect, it broke new ground in cinema.[6] Alan Ng of Film Threat acknowledged the film's significance as a technological milestone while noting its visual limitations, particularly in animation consistency and character design. However, he praised the dialogue and vocal performances, noting that the voice acting quality made it difficult to distinguish from human performances.[3] Ronak Kotecha awarded the film 3 out of 5 stars, describing it as "a groundbreaking attempt at filmmaking", praising the film's witty dialogue but mentioned that the rapid pace and simultaneous conversations might be challenging for some viewers.[2]
Home media
The film was released on Blu-ray on August 31, 2024, including Jackson's ten AI-generated short films.[7]
