I do not believe in the year 2008 that it is really necessary to post someone's religion on their bio, especially when their religion has nothing to do with the job they do. I feel the only reason Jim's religion was posted on here was because he is Jewish. If he were a Protestant or a Catholic you know darn well you would not have posted what religion he was. I suggest that you take a few minutes to look within yourself and ask why you felt so compelled to make a point of Jim being Jewish. You might find that you have some anti-semetic feelings towards Jews and you carry prejudiced feelings toward them. That is something you need to work on. I am removing the reference to Jim's religion as I see how it has no basis as to what a good news anchor he is. I will however leave the history as to how he came to be known as Jim Gardner and not as Jim Goldman.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jkminnich (talk • contribs) 03:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just wondering if this is accurate. I know Gardner was a WPVI anchor for about 45 1/2 years. I also know Jim Vance on WRC in Washington DC was also an news anchor for about 45 years, from 1972-2017. (I have lived primarily in the Philadelphia and Washington TV markets for almost all of that time, so saw both anchors for many years each). But I have not seen any info about when in 1972 Vance started (e.g., I only remember hearing "1972" at the time of Vance's death). I'm wondering where the Gardner information came from. 216.24.45.37 (talk) 19:13, 27 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps solo anchor is meant? Or, maybe you are also adding in Gardner's earlier anchoring of WPVI 5:30 PM news from November 1976, which would be a total of 46 years, which I think answers MY question (he anchored longer than Jim Vance). I looked at the Ken Hoffman reference (reference [9] at the bottom of Gardner's article). It only talks about Dave Ward and Jim Gardner as both being anchors for a long time. It does NOT say anything about Gardner being second longest.
