Place of birth
He certainly went to school at Rydal Penrhos in Colwyn Bay, but most sources seem to agree that Roache was born in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. [1] [2] [3]
I'll change the page shortly unless anyone knows any different. Jellyman 08:43, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Mothers of children
This article state that he has a son Linus by his first wife, and then states that he has two other children, but does not state the mother(s). Her article states that they had two children together, including Linus. Are both articles correct? If so, which of his other two children is from his first wife, and who is the mother of his other child? Nietzsche 2 (talk) 07:25, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
AA member?
Would AA refer to Alcoholics Anonymous or Automobile Association? (It is not wikilinked.) Looks very much to be a case of vandalism. A patron of either may be a possibility but not their patron saint. No evidence through an internet search of his name being linked with either association. I shall remove this uncited statement.--User:Brenont (talk) 15:32, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- AA in the UK would mean Automobile Association. But, probably best that you removed it. Steve (talk) 22:12, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Family
He has a son called James, not mentioned in the article. Both James and Linus are going to be joining Coronation Street soon.[4] AnemoneProjectors 13:15, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Removing nonsense
I've just removed what I believe is some old vandalism.
- "His autobiography is called A Soul on the Street. It focuses on many of his life experiences and contains a significant amount of philosophical content in which Roache affirms his belief in the afterlife he knows this to be true as Ken Barlow is in fact God." to "His autobiography is called Soul on the Street. It focuses on many of his life experiences and contains a significant amount of philosophical content in which Roache affirms his belief in the afterlife." NB: Not vandalism, but I also removed the "A" from the book title as it is not supported by either Amazon or Cygnus Books both of which have a photo of the cover.
- Removed "Roache likes to split his time between boxing and fronting the alternative rock group Pixies, which he formed with his good friend Daniel Hughes."
- Removed "Throughout the 1980s Roache was engaged in a struggle over the mysterious prize, the reward for the immortal who survived the gathering and won the game, he defeated Kevin Webster, Nick Cotton and Ian Beale, he vowed to use his powers to usher in an age of "bar-lightenment". This period is discussed in the documentary "Highlander""
I hope none of this was real. Kiore (talk) 00:48, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- I have also just removed AGAIN the following: Roache was over 30 years old at the time of the alleged offences. the inclusion of which is self-evident by having his DoB clearly stated at the beginning of the article. I hope that "he is male" or "he is in Coronation Street" isn't going to pop-up either! Manxwoman (talk) 14:38, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Bot error?
Revision as of 22:06, 2 April 2013 (view source)changed the name of his first son to 'Dave Bamber'. I presume that is either vandalism or a crazy error. His first son is Linus Roache. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.28.178.10 (talk)
"Boring" libel action
William Roache famously won a libel action against The Sun in 1991 after it claimed that he was boring and disliked by fellow Coronation Street stars. It ultimately led to his bankruptcy over the legal costs in 1999.[5][6] This should be in the article.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 13:29, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
Military service - discrepancies
In the infobox he is stated to have served in the RAF as an "AC" (Aircraftsman - equivalent to private soldier) but in text of this page he is stated to have been an officer in the Royal Welch Fusiliers (an Army regiment). The infobox gives his campaign service as Korean War, but this is not reflected in the main text. It could also do with clarifying his tinnitus cause, was the incident in combat or in training (both likely)?Cloptonson (talk) 21:21, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

Actor?
Can someone who plays the same role during his entire career truly be called an actor?
Not a vegetarian
There is an unreliable source on this article from ITV News that says Roache is a vegetarian. Roache was never a vegetarian because he always has eaten meat. Here is what he says in his autobiography on page 147:
"I don't like the killing of animals, so I was vegetarian for around about four or five years. I wasn't a strict one. If I was invited out for dinner and meat was served, I didn't think, Ooh, I can't touch meat. The hostess would have gone to a lot of trouble to make that meal, so I would eat it. For me, it was perfectly okay to do that. I've now slipped a little from vegetarianism, because I found it difficult to get the protein. I'll eat chicken or other meat or fish occasionally."
Life and Soul (New Edition): Secrets for Living a Long and Happy Life. Hay House. p. 147.
We should remove the weak source from the article as he was not a vegetarian. Psychologist Guy (talk) 01:30, 15 January 2024 (UTC)
