Large borders
Can the large borders around this template be reduced? For an example, see Talk:World Series. The template below is placed on the line directly under this template, but there is still a large space. If they are placed on the same line, the space is smaller, but still relatively big for a template. Templates above this template also have large spaces between them. It happens for other templates than the references one shown, so I think the problem is with this template. Pages, especially talk pages, can have many templates on them and if there are large spaces between them, their domination of the page can be made even worse. -- Kjkolb 08:54, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Move to /doc system
{{editprotected}} I suggest that this template's documentation should move to the /doc system, as it is rather lengthy and may require non-critical updates periodically. I stumbled across this due to adding the banner to a baseball field article, and noticed that the documentation still has the copyable code and other material using "Baseball-WikiProject", rather than the current name. It is minor, but there is no reason to not go this route. Since it already uses a transclusion, it wouldn't be difficult (and I've already enacted the specific term-fix). — Huntster (talk • email • contribs) 18:10, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Categorization of lists
I notice that when this template uses the "class=List" parameter, it seems to be causing a number of Talk pages to show up in Category:Baseball lists. Is this an intentional/desirable feature of the template? BRMo (talk) 05:42, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- Interesting case here. Quite a few WikiProjects use the List-class function, so it is intentional, but most of the time a pre-existing list category isn't present. In this situation, it appears the List function was added after articles were already categorised into "Baseball lists". So, I'm not sure that it is really desirable as-is. Most of the time the list function points to a category such as Category:List-Class Tennessee articles, but to set up a similar category here would be a replication of function. Two ways to proceed would be 1) remove the List function as stick with the traditional FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub setup, or 2) convert all existing articles in the "Baseball lists" cat to use the list function, and remove the category from non-talk pages. There really isn't any preferred way to go. — Huntster (talk • email • contribs) 02:26, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
- My recommendation is to update the template so when the template uses the "class=List" parameter it puts the talk pages into Category:List-Class baseball articles (or Category:List-Class Australian/Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese baseball articles as appropriate). Regarding the "replication of function", that seems to be how most of the other templates which use the List-class function operate: consider that most of the articles whose talk pages are in Category:List-Class Tennessee articles are themselves in Category:Tennessee-related lists. An alternative would be to keep Category:Baseball lists for the talk pages, and move the articles which are currently in that category into a new (article space) category called "Baseball-related lists". DH85868993 (talk) 05:32, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- D'oh, forgot about the TN-related lists category. I may one day try and clear it out, but it doesn't hurt anything as-is. Indeed, I created "List-Class Tennessee articles" to bring things to a standard form; it is basically up to the project, or rather, whomever watches out for the template and project categories. If you did decide to migrate the baseball articles to a "Baseball-related lists" cat, you could simply request a rename of "Baseball lists" to "List-Class Baseball articles" at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. — Huntster (t • @ • c) 07:31, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think you need to clear out TN-related lists. I think it's perfectly fine for there to be two categories: one for the articles (in "article space") and one for the talk pages (in "WikiProject space"). DH85868993 (talk) 08:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
List-Class and FL-Class (featured lists) are now "proper" article grades that are picked up by the assessment bot (see here). As I understand it, this requires articles to be categorized under Category:List-Class baseball articles and Category:FL-Class baseball articles. Regards. PC78 (talk) 23:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Update to Template:WPBannerMeta

Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox
Hey, I've updated the code for this template for the Meta template. I've tested in the sandbox and it works fine. Could someone update this code thanks. I have also included the extended scale because it's been a lot overdue for this project. There will be red-links once the change is implemented but I'll rid them as soon as someone updates it. This will make the banner a lot easier to update in the future. Thanks! T—Borgardetalk 13:18, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

And yes, I brought this to the attention of WikiProject Baseball here. Bbqsauce13 (talk) 15:41, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

- So...what do you want me to do? Please edit the sandbox so that its contents are the same as what you want the template to be — that way, administrators can perform the edit by copy/pasting all its contents into the main template, even if (like me) they aren't that familiar with this template or with the typical desires of baseball editors.
