National varieties of English
Hello. In a recent edit to the page History and culture of breastfeeding, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.
For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the first author of the article used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. You also made incorrect changes on several other articles. Please only make copyedits if you have a confident grasp of English rules and style. Remsense ‥ 论 07:58, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Remsense,
- Thank you for reaching out and providing guidance regarding my recent edits, particularly on the History and Culture of Breastfeeding page. I appreciate the reminder about Wikipedia's policy on respecting national varieties of English and the importance of maintaining consistency within articles.
- I sincerely apologize for inadvertently changing the established variety of English in the article. I understand now that such changes can disrupt the consistency and integrity of the content. Moving forward, I will ensure that I carefully check the original variety of English used in an article and respect it in my edits.
- Regarding the feedback on incorrect changes, I appreciate your observation. I will review my recent edits to ensure they align with Wikipedia’s guidelines and reflect proper usage. Additionally, I will take some time to revisit the Manual of Style to improve my understanding of English rules and style as applied to Wikipedia articles.
- I value your input and the opportunity to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. If you have any specific feedback on how I can refine my editing approach, I would be grateful for your suggestions.
- Thank you once again for your time and guidance.
- Best regards,
